Ideas that don't change your lives!

You know that feeling when you have multiple ideas darting around like rabbits in your head and you want to catch atleast one of them and put it to paper, but the minute you grab a pen…poof! All those rabbits get into their cages. That’s exactly how I’ve been feeling these days.  Writer’s woes, you know.

On a positive note, I’m happy that I’m motivated enough to think of writing and not letting this space become abandoned again. I mean, considering the fact that it’s day 14 of lockdown and all that. One thing this lockdown made me do is unbounded contemplation. My mind has wandered into territories and areas that it has never been a visitor of. Yes, this was the result of one such contemplation shenanigans.

Some of them were wondering what happened to that “idea” of mine, so let me just lay out some facts (medical and operational) which highlight the lack of feasibility of using airplanes as critical care units:

Donning an oxygen mask can provide the basic function of providing oxygen to you but the supply is limited. This is mainly because the oxygen is produced from an oxygen generator kept above each seat. Moreover, one of the major functions of a ventilator is removing the carbon dioxide from the body which can in no way be taken over by a simple oxygen masks.

- Aircraft seats are designed in such a way that it is not easy to convert them into bedding. So, using them as beds for the patients can be easily ruled out.

So, yeah that’s how it panned out!

Anyway, digressing to another aspect my mind wandered into. So, once this is over things are never going to be the same, I believe. Thinking along those lines I just put together my version of the 3 possible outcomes of this corona season (Bullet time, yay!)

  •   Creative boom: There's going to be a boom of brilliant ideas, break-throughs and solutions once this is over! A lot of bright minds (generally overstressed) may have gotten the time to pace it down, sit back and ponder.
  • Hello there, chef! : Many are going to emerge out of this season with a new passion - cooking! With dalgona coffee breaking the internet, folks are convinced that fancy looking Instagrammable drinks and genius recipes are not just a restauranteer's forte. Having said that, it's worthwhile to see if restaurants need to woo people all the more to get them out of their kitchens! While I miss eating out like crazy I can’t help wonder if our dependencies on the eateries are going to remain the same.
  • Mother Nature blossoms: The outside world we say hi to will not be the same as the one we bid farewell to. Flowers are blooming and the air quality is rising. Skylines are clear, murky rivers are pure, wildlife wandering the steets...it's going to be a metamorphosis of sorts!

With all the negativity about the pandemic, and all the pessimism surrounding us thanks to the newspapers and news reporters I was just trying to look at the brighter side of it. Also, to all those people who are complaining that they’re getting bored sitting at home, do remember that boredom is a privilege that you have been granted. Because having all the time in the world certainly is!
